There is nothing quite like helping a local business build its identity from the ground up. It truly never gets old for our team. When the doctors behind Pauly Veterinary Services approached us, they were preparing to open a brand-new clinic in southwest Wichita. As established veterinarians, they already had the expertise; they just needed a cohesive brand identity, a high-performing website, and trust-building marketing.
Here is a behind-the-scenes look at how we got to know the Pauly Vet team and created a stunning logo, intentional branding, and a highly optimized, custom website based on their long-term goals.
Key Points
- Hexcode Marketing built a timeless brand that balances cutting-edge medical professionalism with warm, local family roots.
- Our team developed a streamlined, 8-page sitemap that simplifies complex clinical services for anxious pet owners.
- We optimized the site’s infrastructure and copy to rank on traditional search engines and next-gen AI platforms like ChatGPT and Siri.

Crafting a Brand with Local Roots
The branding for Pauly Veterinary Services was centered around essential traits of the brand: Medicine, Family, Trust, and Faith. They wanted to deliver a logo and branding that delivered both the feeling of local roots and expert medical professionalism.
The creative journey started with the logo. The Pauly team arrived with a clear vision: They wanted to honor their medical roots by incorporating the traditional veterinary caduceus symbol (the staff entwined with serpents, paired with the iconic veterinary “V”). Our design team took that concept and explored multiple creative directions, balancing professional medical authority with an approachable, family-focused aesthetic.
After careful refinement alongside the client, we locked in a final design and an intentional color palette: calming greens, blues, and silver accents. These colors were chosen to evoke a sense of nature and the animals they serve, while instilling a sense of peace for anxious pet owners.
The result is a timeless, polished brand that communicates both local warmth and clinical excellence.

Building a Website Designed for Discovery and Trust
With a brand-new clinic on the horizon, Pauly Veterinary Services needed a digital presence up and running before their doors officially opened to build local awareness. Because the Pauly family is already well-known in the community, our digital strategy centered around putting their familiar names and faces front and center.
Beyond the visual appearance of the site, we got to work on making it actually perform. We approached the UI/UX design and development through a rigorous, research-driven lens.
1. User & Competitor Research
We started by mapping out deep user personas and customer journeys to understand exactly what a stressed pet owner looks for during a veterinary emergency.
Next, we analyzed local and national competitors. We discovered that while many local vet sites were cluttered or outdated, the top-performing national practices kept their homepages simple and reserved details for internal pages.
2. Ideation & Site Structure
We collaborated with the client to summarize their robust list of clinical capabilities into a highly navigable, 8-page sitemap. Rather than crowding multiple clinical offerings onto a single page, we built a layout where each specialized service has its own dedicated page. This gives pet owners reassuring, comprehensive information when researching complex procedures.
Because the clinic would not feature online booking at launch, our designer strategically placed intuitive call-to-actions (CTAs) throughout the site. During regular business hours, the site prompts users to tap to call, and after hours, it seamlessly guides them toward an easy-to-use digital contact form and emergency veterinary resources.

3. Wireframing and Copywriting for Next-Gen SEO
A major goal for this launch was making sure Pauly Veterinary Services ranked at the top of local search engines early on. During the website’s content phase, our copywriter and SEO strategist worked high-value keywords and custom FAQ sections into the copy.
We optimized for standard search engines (SEO), and we built the copy infrastructure to rank for AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization), ensuring the clinic is easily discoverable when locals ask AI assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini, or Siri, “Where is the best veterinary clinic near me?”
The result is a fully custom website that will perform well and look incredible for years to come, inviting customers to learn more about veterinary medicine and connect with the Pauly Vet team.
Welcome to the Community, Pauly Vet!
By combining human-centric design with advanced digital strategy, we gave Pauly Veterinary Services a powerful digital space to welcome generations of local pets and their families.

FAQs
Our competitor and user research revealed that stuffing every service onto one long, cluttered page overwhelms anxious pet owners. Giving specialized services (like orthopedic surgery or diagnostics) their own dedicated page allows us to provide educational, reassuring information. From a technical standpoint, it also vastly improves SEO; it allows Google and AI search engines to index individual pages for specific search queries, driving more qualified local traffic to the site.
Standard SEO (Search Engine Optimization) focuses on ranking your website at the top of traditional Google search results. AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) are newer strategies designed for how people search today using voice assistants and AI platforms (like ChatGPT, Gemini, or Siri). Instead of just targeting short keywords, we structure the website’s code, headers, and text with conversational, direct question-and-answer formats so AI tools naturally pull and cite Pauly Vet as the primary expert answer.
Color psychology plays a big role in how consumers instantly feel about a business. For Pauly Vet, we needed to balance advanced medical authority with family-focused warmth. We chose a natural palette of greens and blues because they are scientifically proven to have a calming effect, lowering stress levels for anxious pet owners walking into a clinic.
Collaboration is the core of our process. The Pauly Vet team brought a wonderful concept: utilizing the traditional veterinary caduceus symbol. Our job was to elevate it. We explored multiple design directions using that symbol as a baseline, showing them variations in styling and layout. This ensured their foundational values of faith and medicine were preserved while meeting modern branding standards for scaling across digital and physical media.
This is incredibly common for new businesses! We don’t believe in forcing features before an operational workflow is ready. Instead, we map out strategic user journeys with intelligent calls-to-action (CTAs). For Pauly Vet, we built dynamic buttons that automatically emphasize a “tap-to-call” function during business hours and seamlessly switch to an interactive digital intake form and local emergency hotline directory during overnight hours.
